cars for me symbolize freedom.  maybe it comes from growing up in a rural area of arizona with nothing but tumbleweeds in walking distance.  we were poor, lived in a single wide on 3 and 1/3 acres in a place called maricopa, near the ak-chin indian reservation.  we didn’t have a phone.  i didn’t go to movies, it was too far.
